"Liecht..." The blonde girl who was sitting in her brother's study turned her head, a look of pure sorrow on her face before turning it away again. Iceland hated seeing her like this as he walked over and wrapped his arms around her. She burried her face into his shoulder and began to wail. It had been two weeks since the war and he couldn't blame her. She hardly ever cried, always smiling and laughing.

"I know...Norway wants you over for dinner tonight...not to celebrate...just to be with you in this hard time...how does that sound? Just nod if you will come." Liecht nodded as Iceland held her tighter. Norway came into the room.

"Liecht...you have company.." The Liechtensteinin looked up, her eyes a bit wide before nodding. Iceland stayed with her as three men came into the room. Iceland took note to each. One tall, blonde hair and blue eyed, another silver hair with red eyes and the third had glasses, brown hair and purple eyes. They all had a sorrowed look on their face.

"Germany, Prussia and Austria...sit down. Before you say anything, I am staying in here with you as you talk to Liechtenstein." Germany nodded as the three sat down.

"Liechtenstein...ve...Austria...you try." The blonde sighed as he turned to his one partner.

"Liechtenstein...we're sorry for your loss. Quite frankly, we feel...it is partly our fault. Over the years we have spited Switzerland and by assoociation, you. we should have tried to be friends with you both but instead...we all just stayed away. We dragged you all into this war. We are all to blame for this...except those of us who never wanted this. Your brother, you, the nordics...never wanted this. is there anyway we can even remotely have a thin relationship with you?" Iceland stared at them.

"Knowing you regret your actions may be enough for now you three..." Prussia stood glaring at Iceland. Liecht swallowed as Iceland gently pressed her away and stood.

"What are you, a nordic, to tell a germanic on a matter involving germanics?! that is not awesome!" Prussia went to attack Iceland when Germany held him back.

"Iceland knows vhat he iz talking about. He knows her better zhen us." All three of them left as Liecht closed her eyes and just sat there. Iceland brought her close as he escourte her outside, Norway following and driving them both.

"Thank you for dinner..." The entire nordic countries, Sealand and Liechtenstein all sat at one table. Sealand didn't have to fight, much to Finland and Sweden's joy. Denmark had lost his left arm, Sweden his left eye and Finland his right leg. Finland had insisted Liechtenstein stay the night which lead to every nordic, the germanic and sealand all in one house.

"It wasn't a bother Lili. Sealand, please go play in your room. The adults need to talk with Iceland and Liechtenstein." After some arguing, some threats from both Norway and Denmark, Sealand left the room. Liecht blinked as Finland broke out something she would have never guessed.

"How much does everyone want in their coffee?" Liecht watched as each indicated the amount of alcohol they wished. Two ounces for Sweden, five for Norway, fifteen for Denmark, Finland himself took three, Iceland and Liecht took their's pure coffee and in Liecht's case, tea. Liecht shuddered as all eyes were on her.

"We understand the funeral's tomorrow....we understand that you have a lot to deal with, Liechtenstein, we all understand. It's just we are all worried for your safety. I mean, for the love of God Liecht! Russia or Germany or someone else could try to invade and take everything from you!" Liecht stared at her tea.

"what would be the point...I've already lost everything...."

The rain poured down on the funeral attendance as they walked into the church. Liecht sat in the front pew, her hands folded on her lap as Ice sat to her left, Hungry to her right. She wasn't cry any longer as the preacher stood in front of the gathering of mourners. He said good things about the dead country that he had gathered from the ones who knew Vash best. Then people began to go up and speak about him.

"He was a good man. Always had my back, always carrying after i got my rear handed to me on a golden platter" Austria spoke softly about the man he once called friend.

"Mister switzerland, I admit, was not what i had expected. Still, he was a good man an country." Japan's voice stayed the same but there were the tones of sorrow. One by one people went up and spoke kind words about him. Finally, it was Liechtenstein's turn. Emil and Elizabeta walked her up an stood slightly off from her so all focus would be on her.

"Brother was a kind soul though he may have intimidated you all at one point or another. When he found me in the rain that night, I was almost dead and surely would have been if he had came a few minutes later. He took me in dispite he himself struggling. That was the great depression. Over the years he has taken care of me, taught me lessons, kept me safe and happy. I owe him so much. Watching him die..." She took a pause, her hair covering her face as well as a shadow as a tear ran down her cheek, "watching him die was like watch the world burn. I lost my brother, my protector and my friend that night. I can only hope and pray that he is in a better place and very happy..." Iceland and Hungry went up and hugged her tightly as she went and sat down again.

The countries went up to say their goodbyes, some telling the dead man things that Lili knew would have made him at least blush due to being compliments. Everyone, even the cheery Italy, had the look of lost on their faces. Liecht went up last, by herself with a bouquet of poppies, sweetpeas, yellow zenias and lilies tied in a blue ribbon that matched her hair bow.

He looked peaceful, almost asleep if not for his skin being cold and chalky white, lips blue and sewn shut, in his military uniform and his hair spread. Lili swallowed.

"hello Big brother...I'm sorry for this all. I'm sorry that you died in the war protecting me from Turkey. I promise you something though. I promise to be strong, wise and just, as you were and as you had taught me. I will not be a cowardess no longer and need protection from another country. I can only hope though, Bruder, that I make you proud where ever you are. Ich liebe Dich Vash...I love you." She pulls four flowers out of her mass of them and placed them in the coffin in which Vash lied.  she smiled sadly.

"Goodbye brother. Until we meet again." She turned away as the casket was closed. Germany, Sweden, Denmark, and Austria all lifted the coffin and began to carry it outside following the mourners, Lili with Elizabeta and Emil in the front. They all gathered around the grave as the casket was lowered into the six foot deep hole.

"Amazing grace..." Austria started under his breath, his glasses fogged and wet. Lili closed her eyes.

"How sweet the sound...." She began and soon everyone just joined in sorrowfully. it seemed to rain even harder as people struggled out the words. Liechtenstein handed Iceland the bouquet of flowers as she picked up the shovel and placed in the first scoop, Denmark, Sweden and Norway soon helping her burry Switzerland. One it was finished, Lili took the flowers and placed them down gently before going over to Iceland and hugging him.

Soon all the mourners left in seperate directions. Iceland went home with Liecht, making sure she would be alright.

"Lili...hey I was ch-Lili?!" Ice hand gone to the blonde's room to see how she was to find her missing. He grew paniced as she searched the house, not finding her. He quickly grabbed the phone and started making calls. No one had seen Liecht since the funeral. He quickly ran out of the house, the storm had turned into a light rain as he ran. Soon he came to the graveyard to find the girl asleep next to the grave.

"Lili! You had me worried." the girl rolled over and stared at him with those huge green eyes of hers.

"I'm sorry....I didn't want him to spend his first night in the grave alone."

The world meeting was solemn as they discussed plans and issues. Belgium, Ukraine, Hungry, the five nordics, Japan, the rest of the germanics and even the three Baltics and Poland kept watch on the eerily silent Liechtenstein. She payed attention and only spoke when needed to. The meeting was called to a close as everyone got up to leave. Liecht pushed her chair in as Russia came up to her.

"Hello Liechtenstein." he smiled at her as she nodded in greeting.

"Hello Russia." He began to talk to her about issues here and there, with her responding breifly and respectfully. Sweden and Finland both watched her worriedly.

"Su-san...do we worry too much?" the gentle giant shook his head. Liecht tried to leave a few times but he just kept talking.

"So...let's become one Liechtenstein. Da?" The girl gave him a cold look.

"No. And do not try to invade me." Russia gave her a confused look.

"But you don't have an army da? How will you defend yourself?"

"we will hold an alliance with her." Iceland's voice called as he walked behind her, joined by Norway, then Denmark, Sweden and Finland.

"All five of us." The germanics came next.

"und us as vell!" Germany, Prussia and Austria stood stodic as Poland pulled the three baltics over.

"And like Us too!" Russia took a glance at them all as Japan soon joined the mix.

"I as well will help Miss Liechtenstein out until she gets on her feet." Russia merely left as Liecht looked around her and smiled. She had friends, a whole network of people willing to help her. She sighed in relief as they all gave her comforting looks and shoulder squeases.

                              Ten years Later

He walked the graveyard until he came to the grave in which he looked for. Emil gave a sad smile as he placed down the  bouquets he hand in his arms. Each had a different ribbon and flag on them.

"Hey Switzerland. it's the tenth annerversry of your death and I'm bringing everyone's flowers for them since they will stop by through out the day. Liecht would have came with me but she's in a meeting with her boss. Her alliances have worked well towards a better world in a way. You should be proud of her Swissy. You taught her well." Iceland looked to the sky as a cloud blocked off the sun.

"She'll be by today. She still wakes up screaming for you, still hasn't turned your room into anything and left it the same. She's doing well Switzerland. Without you.." iceland paused as he took a breath, "without you...she wouldn't be here and I would be forever alone. Thank you...for everything." He stood and walked away.

As he left he could have sworn he felt a warmth of a hand on his shoulder and a light thank you in the gentle breeze that ruffled his white hair. He smiled to himself with a small chuckle.

"The lily has risen from the sorrow of the fallen Edelweiss. May she forever stand proud and keep his memory as alive as herself."
